Privacy policy

Effective from: 20 August 2026

Protecting your personal data matters to us. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we process it, how we handle it and what rights you have in connection with its processing. Processing is carried out in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council ("GDPR") and Czech Act No. 110/2019 Coll., on personal data processing.

(referred to below as "we" or "the controller"). We run the website sportujusa.cz and provide advisory services on sports scholarships and study in the USA and Canada.

2. What data we process

Depending on how you come into contact with us, we process in particular:

● Identification and contact details – name and surname, e-mail, phone number and, where relevant, address.

● Details about the student and their athletic and academic history – age or date of birth, school, expected graduation year, sport, team, level of performance, academic results, language skills and other information you give us so that we can assess your scholarship options.

● Data from the scholarship calculator and contact forms – the information you enter into the forms.

● Communication data – the content of messages, e-mails and calls between you and us.

● Technical data – IP address, browser and device type, and information about your visit to the site obtained through cookies.

If the student is under 15, their data and any consent are provided by their legal guardians.

3. Why we process the data, and on what basis

4. Transfers abroad (USA and Canada)

The essence of our service is putting you in touch with high schools and universities, coaches, scouts and partner programmes in the USA and Canada. For that purpose, and always only to the extent necessary to provide the service, we may transfer your data (in particular the student's athletic and academic profile) to those parties in third countries outside the EU/EEA.

Such a transfer usually takes place because it is necessary for the performance of a contract concluded in your interest (Art. 49(1)(b) and (c) GDPR), or on the basis of your consent. Please note that those countries may not offer the same level of personal data protection as the EU.

5. Who we share data with

In addition to the schools and programmes above, your data may be made available to our processors and to people we work with, for example:

● providers of IT, hosting and website operation,

● providers of e-mail and marketing tools,

● our accountancy and tax firm,

● providers of analytics tools (see cookies).

6. How long we keep the data

We keep personal data only for as long as is necessary:

● for the duration of discussions about the service and then for the duration of the contractual relationship,

● after it ends, for the period required by law (in particular accounting and tax records, usually up to 10 years),

● data processed on the basis of consent, until that consent is withdrawn, and at most 5 years from when it was given or from the last interaction.

7. Your rights

In connection with the processing of personal data you have the right:

● to access your data,

● to have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected,

● to erasure (the "right to be forgotten"),

● to restriction of processing,

● to data portability,

● to object to processing based on legitimate interest,

● to withdraw consent at any time (withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before it was withdrawn).

You can exercise your rights by e-mailing johanakarbanova@sportujusa.cz. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority, which is the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection.

8. Security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available on this page with its effective date.
